http://www.gpac.org/50under30/

This is a site everyone needs to see, especially those interested in human rights. It documents gender based crimes that have claimed more then 50 lives since 1995. The twelve page report that you can download from the site, called "50 Under 30, Masculinity and the War on America's Youth", is very informative and useful. It tells the stories of some of the victims of these unfortunate crimes, gives statistics on the crimes, and tells you what you can do to help this cause. This is definitely something to check out.

Massachusetts to Publicly Recognize Marriage of 26 Same-Sex Couples

Massachusetts Gov. Deval Patrick has ordered state officials to record the marriages of 26 out-of-state couples. Former Gov. Mitt Romney blocked the unions from being entered into the state registry, in an action Duval called “a gimmick to make what I feel was a discriminatory point."
The Supreme Judicial Court ruled in 2006 that Romney could use a 1913 law to prohibit out-of-state couples from marrying in Massachusetts if their home state did not allow gay marriage. The couples received marriage licenses in four towns protesting the ruling.
In announcing the order Patrick said, “It's a simple gesture to include the information on the register. Keeping it out was the gimmick."

Mattew Shepard Act

Hi,

You've got to watch this video. Thousands of people are attacked
every year because of their sexual orientation, and there's
still no federal hate crimes law to protect them. This video is
the most powerful statement I've seen on hate crimes, and I
couldn't help but pass it on. I think you'll see why.

http://www.hrc.org/FightHate

There's a bill in the Senate right now that would address this
heartbreaking problem, and we only have a few weeks until the
vote. It would mean a lot to me if you could take a minute to
watch the video and write your Senators, and then pass this
along to five friends. I really believe none of us can sit this
one out. Just go to:

http://www.hrc.org/FightHate

letter recieved from the hrc via e-mail.

also, the haters are beating us five to one with complaints and letters of protest.

Bush's Nomination for Surgeon General

If you haven't heard already be stunned - or unstunned considering whether or not you were explecting it. George W. Bush has nominated Dr. James Holsinger to become our Surgeon General.

Holsinger's resime, according to the HRC, is listed as such in the newest HRC newsletter:

In 1991 used basic plumbing analogies to write a "scientific and medical" paper arguing that homosexuality is unnatural and dangerous.

Founded the Hope Springs Community Church, which reportedly has a special program to "cure" gays from "that lifestyle."

Past writings indicate that he views sexual orientation as a "lifestyle choice."
This could not be further from the view held by mainstream medical or scientific organizations.

Don't you love how Bush is trying everything possible to squash the rights of homosexuals?

For Starters...

I started this blog for people to discuss the bigotry that is swimming through our nation - in great thanks to our current destroyer, George W. Bush. This isn't just a blog to complain about the political b.s. that is destroying our current progression - though it'd be fun if it was - it is also to take note of the current things that are being done to broaden our horizons as the American minority citizens. I guess you could say this a blog with news about the human rights campaign and what they're doing for gay rights and more, and of course it's for your comments and opinions as well.

If you do not agree with the issues for the fight for human rights, please keep your comments as proffessional as possible. I don't want any wars raging between the users through comments on my blog. If I do find any comments like these, they will be removed.

Thank You and Enjoy.
